At Pluvo, we don't deny that it's incredibly nice that we can get together again. After COVID, the need for personal “live” connections is greater than ever. However, we also see that many companies have experienced how valuable e-learning is for employees and results within their organisation and how efficient it is in terms of costs. Of course, we all want to get the most out of our training budget!

E-learning not only provides flexibility, accessibility and efficiency. E-learning also makes the results of training and education within organisations a lot easier to measure. In addition, there is the financial factor: e-learning enables companies to save considerably on their training and training budget.

In this blog, we explain how this is possible and why e-learning is a smart choice for optimal ROI of an organisation's training and training budget. ROI (Return on Investment) is an important concept in evaluating the effectiveness and value of e-learning within an organisation. It helps determine the return that the organisation achieves by investing in e-learning for the professional development of their employees. Within e-learning, there is the investment for example, from the costs of developing e-learning modules, licensing e-learning platforms, training for teachers, etc. And the yield can be measured in, for example, improved performance and higher productivity.

How does e-learning contribute to a high ROI?

1. Employees remain present

When employees are expected to physically attend a training for a day or even a few days, this can have a significant impact on the rest of the company. Perhaps replacements need to be arranged, the workload of other employees is increasing because they have to intervene temporarily, or work is left behind. All of them are not really desirable. E-learning, on the other hand, can be taken at any time, for example from the car or train, at lunch (although taking a break is also very important, of course), in the evenings, etc.

However, it is important that companies offer employees sufficient hours to actually attend the training.

2. Save on logistics costs

When no space has to be rented for classroom training, this saves a lot of money. This also applies if the training is given in-house. After all, it involves catering, but also materials. This includes, for example, printing training material.

But travel costs for trainers and participants can also be in the paperwork!

3. E-learning is highly scalable

Once the e-learning has been developed, it can be used endlessly - even when the organisation grows in terms of the number of employees, at no extra cost.

4. E-learning is always up to date

E-learning can be easily updated depending on the trends in the field. This often takes more time and effort during physical training; PowerPoint slides need to be adjusted, the trainer needs to be retrained, etc.

In an e-learning, the relevant modules can be easily modified and this information is then immediately available to everyone.

5. Measuring is knowing

Analyzing e-learning analytics enables companies to measure how employees perform within e-learning. Are the learning objectives achieved? How fast do employees go through the e-learning? Do they get stuck somewhere? Indirect results are often more difficult to measure, but they certainly exist: for example, if employees have completed e-learning customer communication, the feedback and reviews that the company receives from customers may be a lot more positive!

6. Faster and more personal learning

E-learning offers flexible learning options, allowing employees to learn at their own pace. Some employees will understand and process the material more quickly than others.

This means that those who master the substance quickly don't have to wait unnecessarily for others, and those who need more time are not under pressure to keep up. With Pluvo you can automatically offer the right content based on someone's behavior and choices that are made.

This leads to more efficient learning and greater self-confidence.

7. Higher retention of knowledge

E-learning often uses interactive and visual elements, which contributes to better retention of the knowledge gained. Studies have shown that people remember information better when they are involved in interactive activities and when the e-learning includes multimedia elements such as quizzes, simulations, and videos.

In short: e-learning contributes to a positive ROI and is a great way to optimise your training budget! Are you curious about how you can use e-learning within your organisation? Contact us via chat!
