Non-profit organisations often come from a dream - a mission or an idea to make the world a better place. Non-profit organisations do amazing things in our world, for both people and animals. But it is also important for non-profit organisations that everyone involved remains up to date when it comes to knowledge and skills in their field of work. For example, legislation, raising funds, spreading their message via online channels, and much more. That's where a logistical challenge comes in: most nonprofits depend on volunteers. This often means that in addition to their work for the non-profit, these volunteers have a full-time job. So there is no easy way for them to take time off to train themselves for work within the non-profit. As a non-profit, how can you still ensure that all volunteers and stakeholders? stay up to date in their knowledge and skills? With e-learning, of course!

Why choose e-learning within non-profit organisations?

1. E-learning makes a global non-profit mission possible

As soon as a non-profit organisation starts spreading its message, there is of course a good chance that this message will be taken up internationally. This means that volunteers from various countries want to work for the organisation. E-learning makes it possible for non-profit organisations to offer all training courses (e.g. for onboarding new volunteers) in different languages. In addition, e-learning allows people to learn at their own pace, location, and at a time that suits them best. No long travel time, days away from work, hotel stays, babysitting, arranging a replacement... Because people decide where and when they learn, this offers a lot of flexibility and opportunities.

In this way, no one is excluded and the mission of the non-profit can always be achieved spread further around the world.

2. E-learning creates a connection within the non-profit organisation

As soon as a volunteer signs up with the non-profit organisation, he or she can be added directly to the e-learning. This ensures that you, as an organisation, are equal full of enthusiasm that someone feels when they volunteer. For the volunteer, it is nice to get to know other volunteers who have also just started. This creates connection and shared enthusiasm. Encourage collaboration and “real life” meetings (if this is technically possible from a location point of view, of course).

This not only creates a connection between the volunteers, but also directly strengthens their relationship with, and loyalty to, the non-profit organisation.

3. All the knowledge of the non-profit organisation in one place within the e-learning

There is often a great deal of knowledge and experience available in non-profit organisations.

However, because non-profit organisations often grow rapidly without a plan in advance, it is possible that knowledge becomes fragmented within the organisation.

That is of course a shame, because it makes progress and growth inefficient.

E-learning offers the solution! E-learning platforms, such as Pluvo, offer the opportunity to creating an interactive library.

This means that all knowledge is collected in the e-learning system and can easily be searched for by volunteers.

It also enables non-profit organisations to create an e-learning once (for example for onboarding new volunteers or employees) and then offer it scalable, regardless of how fast the organisation grows.

4. E-learning makes technology accessible to non-profit organisations

When purchasing a new e-learning system, people often immediately think of a costly investment. However, with e-learning, this doesn't have to be the case at all! Many e-learning platforms, such as Pluvo, allow organisations to pay per user. E-learning systems are also very user-friendly and it is therefore not necessary to hire paid IT staff, for example.

Often there is a chat function and customer service available, at no extra cost, that can support volunteers and staff with online learning.

5. E-learning provides extra income for the non-profit organisation

If you are developing a very valuable e-learning as a non-profit organisation, think about how you could do it. selling to other companies or organisations!

Because the e-learning is scalable, it doesn't matter how many additional people follow the e-learning.

If other companies or organisations pay for your e-learning, this is a great extra income stream to support and fund your fantastic mission!
